The Killers' Brandon Flowers has spoken out about the recent Paris terror attacks, with the artist encouraging other musicians to change “try not to be afraid" about stepping on stage.
These comments are in the wake of musicians like Prince, U2 and Foo Fighters cancelling a number of live shows after 118 civilians were killed during an Eagles Of Death Metal concert at Le Bataclan on Friday night (13 November).
Speaking candidly in a new interview with Loaded Magazine, Flowers said he hoped fans would continue going to gigs and that musicians wouldn't "let what happened get the better of us."
"Some of the greatest experiences in my life have been at concerts," said Flowers. "To think that people will be afraid to go to concerts now is a shame. I hope we don’t let what happened get the better of us. I’m not the ambassador for all musicians"
Flowers, who this week played a huge show at London's Shepherds Bush Empire, continued: "And I totally understand why some people have been cancelling tours. What happened was heartbreaking. My heart goes out to the people who died. But I feel it’s important to try not to be afraid."
In an act of solidarity and defiance in the face of terrorism, a campaign was recently launched on Facebook to push Eagles Of Death Metal's cover of Duran Duran's 'Save A Prayer' to No. 1. The track is currently at No. 96.
A number of music venues have also promised to tighten security at their live shows after the tragedy at the Eagles Of Death Metal gig.
