Apple have denied rumours and reports that they plan to shut down the Beats Music streaming service, after purchasing the company earlier this year.

Last month, Apple bought Beats in a $3 billion deal, announcing: "We are excited to officially welcome Beats Music and Beats Electronics to the Apple family. Music has always held a special place in our hearts, and we're thrilled to join forces with a group of people who love it as much as we do."

It was recently reported by TechCrunch that  "several prominent employees at Apple and Beats" claimed that Apple would be closing the streaming service. However, Apple has now told Hollywood Reporter that this is simply "not true"

It is believed that Apple may soon roll out Beats headphones and 'lightning port' technology into iPod and iPhone to replace the standard headphone jack.

CEO Tim Cook said in a statement: "Music is such an important part of all of our lives and holds a special place within our hearts at Apple. That’s why we have kept investing in music and are bringing together these extraordinary teams so we can continue to create the most innovative music products and services in the world."
