Dave Grohl has admitted he isn't a fan of The Foo Fighters' name, joking "it's the dumbest band name ever".
Speaking to CBS News, Grohl explained that he wouldn't have chose the name if he knew the band was going to be successful.
“Had I imagined that it would last more than a month-and-a-half, I might’ve named it something else,” Grohl joked, “It’s the dumbest band name ever. Foo Fighters was a slang term that they used for UFO’s in World War II.”
Grohl was on the show to promote Sonic Highways, Foo Fighters' forthcoming eighth album which is out next month through RCA Records.

Sonic Highways is released 10 November, while a documentary of the same name based around the album's creation will air on The BBC and HBO later this month.
